She looked in the mirror

She looked in the mirror regretfully,

And thought to herself silently,

I'm empty worthless,

You don't know me,

I'm the invisible girl,

How could you see,

I hurt I cry,

Without cease,

Craving attention,

It does tease,

I'm insignificant worthless,

Why do I exist,

I fight I ponder,

I clench my fist,

Throughout my years,

The reflection cackles

In my ears,

My own imaginary shackles,

Until finally one day,

I had enough,

I put on athletic shoes,

And I got tough,

I ran and ran it felt so good,

Who knew exercise,

Could change your mood,

Eating healthier and self pep talks,

Helping others,

And adopting dogs,

Graduating top of the class,

Choosing to teach,

Students who make me laugh,

She looked in the mirror proudly,

And thought to her self silently,

There is no one else I'd rather be,

Than happily unapologetically me

And if I could go back you see,

I'd show her how,

She glowed-up so beautifully.
