She Owned Me?
Oh how they thought you owned me because I lay peacefully on your mind,
And whenever you needed me you just moved your hand and I was there every, single, time,
You know they laughed at me when I said you came looking for me and I accepted you,
And baby they laughed so hard like I was not speaking the truth?
As we laid in bed those nights and your tears stumbled upon my chest,
I was the one who put you to bed, and watched you softly rest,
As we laid in bed those nights with your smile encrusted so wide,
I was part of that smile because I am what brings you alive,
As we laid in bed those nights with your blood bubbling in your veins,
I was sitting just right there sweetheart stopping you from going insane,
So you see Jasmine I loved you more than you loved me because I tightly held your hand,
I pushed you to move on and showed you, yes you can,
I sung inside your heart and danced upon your pink lips,
I looked you in your eyes while holding on to your hips,
And baby you know I’m not full of myself but you need me more than I will ever need you,
And please tell the friends that they’ll believe your telling the truth!
I am the tears of your heart while you abuse the paper,
I am the one you run to tell everything to while to everyone else you say “I’ll tell you later”,
No I am more like you heart you know, that thing that keeps you alive,
I am all of your smarts, your passions, and you know… your ultimate drive,
However, I was in love when you first said “Hello”
My heart did tons of flips but I pretended to be mellow,
I made a promise if you stay,
I would be here everyday,
I made a promise if you stay,
I would always make sure your okay,
And I believe I fulfilled those promises in way more ways than one,
Even when you cried out a battered heart I demanded we have fun!
Because you know I’ll always love you and I know you’ll always love me,
And I know this is true because we are truly meant to be,
I can’t help but smile while I say,
Jasmine you don’t even try... But yes you do own poetry…
