She Stood There


She stood there, waiting for someone to call her, tell her it would be all right. She stood there, waiting for the world to tell her people cared about her. But the world couldn’t tell her that. Because she was afraid her free will would be taken away if she told someone she was depressed. She was afraid they would watch her, tell her to do more things to “make her happy!” Pressing her to do them, depressing her more. She stood there, and suddenly she realized she should never make herself believe she had to die. And she never stood there again, still living, wondering why.
