BUT SHE WAS JUST A CHICANA

But she was just a Chicana

I am alone

My Chicana daughter is dead

I sought justice on her behalf

I presented to the white authorities

“Smoking gun” evidence

Against her white assassins

To investigate her homicide

and bring her murderers to justice

But she was just a Chicana

And her assassins are white

She was disposable

She was insignificant

She was Brown

No investigation required

I am alone

I cry to the Great Spirit

To bring her justice

But she was just a Chicana

of no value in a white world

No one cares

She's invisible

She was one of many

Who the white man discards

By the wayside after use

And he then conceals his crimes

With excuses, rationalizations, & justifications

For his endless stream of evils

I am alone

In my anguish and grief

In my rage and contempt

You stole her from me

And let her white killers go free

She was a daughter of La Raza

She was this white man’s daughter

Her bronze toned skin

Her long raven black hair

He almond eyes of dark complexion

She was beautiful by all measures

She only wanted to assimilate

into your fucked up white society

I warned her to stay away

From that wicked race of mine

She didn’t listen

And now you have murdered her

But she was just a Chicana

I pray to God to darken my skin

And remove all Caucasian traces

I am so ashamed of our white crimes

Our atrocities and thieveries

Our lies and deceptions

our hate and violence

our frauds and corruptions

our lust for power and control

our massacres & genocides

our dominations and oppressions

our exploitations and forced labor

Ya basta ahora!

My heart bleeds for my Amanda

I want to be with her

a daughter of Mexico & America

and a most beautiful child of God

But she was just a Chicana
