She's Trying
A sixteen-year-old girl,
so much pain in her world.
Depression, PTSD, and self-harm,
all of these things causing her alarm.
She's been through so much in her life,
trying to make it through the strife.
Her dad gone when she was just thirteen,
the grief still hurts, it's never been seen.
She's trying to make it through the day,
but it's hard when she's so far away.
From the life she used to have,
it's like she's been thrown in a cave.
She's trying to be strong and brave,
but it's hard when she's so enslaved.
To the darkness that she can't escape,
it's like she's been thrown in a drape.
But she's still here, she's still alive,
and she's still trying to survive.
She's fighting her demons every day,
trying to make it through the fray.
She's trying to find a way out,
trying to find a way to shout.
That she's still here, she's still alive,
and she's still trying to survive.
