She’s Anxiety
Anxiety has come to the party
She was invited by her friend depression
And has made friends with my monsters
She’s expelled my happiness
She is a plus one guest with no intention
Of ever leaving
She is a mistress lurking in the dark corners
Of my room shoving her words down my throat
She’s the one that convinced me that my bed is a better suited place for me than the world will ever be.
She is the one that persuaded me that I am nobody without somebody and everybody needs someone and without him I will always be no one.
She is the one that comes to play every time that car turns on.
Or a crowd of people starts to form
Or every time I hear a voice raised.
She chains me to my bed like it’s a coffin
But I don’t ever want to leave because she made it comfy here.
I am warm here.
The world out there is cold!
My anxiety is not just some made up thing
Some word to cover up my nerves
She’s not just some excited jitters
She demands to be heard.
So please
Don’t tell me she’s not real
Because she’s here. Don’t you see
My anxiety will always be a part of me.
