Shh

Hide behind your pretense of care and pretend you know the numbers
on my bones,
pretend you give a damn.

Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen
or the monsters at my back,
I’m damned, try and look surprised,
I used to sing with angels, I swear.

I can’t tell you, it’ll ruin simply everything.

Everything now
is clouded over,
keeping secrets
from your mind.
