The Ship

For when speech fails me

and pen and paper save me -

For when stress takes over,

much weight on my shoulders -

For when I finally realize

I need to escape open eyes

and

(closed minds)

For poetry is the ship

that lets me sail my own course.

The winds that are too strong

and knock me down

are the same winds that push

my boat far across the

--------------------------horizon.

I am the captain

and it is the ship -

For when my speech fails me

And pen and paper save me.
