Shipwreck

i try to keep my heart at bay, secured with a lock and key

emotions don't exist for me, for i've pushed them out into the deep blue sea,

never to be seen again, or at least until i'm ready.

sometimes it washes up on shore too early; it spills out of its box, and turns my life upside down.

my mind becomes clouded with thoughts of you, even as i put on a frown, a faceted facade

it was just a front, i'm beginning to realize,

for the things i felt at the time.

it's weird how it passes so quickly, that sometimes i doubt they ever existed.

was it just my imagination, or was it real?
