Cover the mirrors
For Monday has come
And now is the time
For the meanings of mo(u)rning/
Cover the mirrors and
open the doors.

and the shovels go in
and the shovels go out
and there's something cruel in the patter of earth

Cover the mirrors
and cover the tables
bring in the food
the wine and the bread
listen and weep while the silver stones talk.
Cover the mirrors, my darling, my love
and cover her face
in a simple pine box.

And the shovels go in
and the shovels go out
and the chuppah covers our mo(u)rning.

Cover the mirrors, and sit in the dark
And wait while the week passes by
Cover the mirrors, my darling, my love,
and wait
it will never be over.

And the shovels go in and
the shovels go out
and there we are in April mo(u)rning.
