Shopping List

I hold contempt for shopping,

I always buy much more than what is on my list.

When I go to the store for us,

instead of oranges, I bought this:

two packs of bacon for our breakfast,

a single box of eggs,

three cartons of strawberry yogurt,

and a pillow for our bed.

Brand new lavender soap,

milled from the Yucatan,

butter, corn, green peas,

and soup in a can.

This endless list had many more

items to be bought;

but I went home, all alone,

and the oranges I forgot.
