The Shore

You reach the shore
And your body is shaking.
You've never done this before.
Your mind isn't clear.

The sands are impure but
What you find will haunt you
For a lifetime. The thirst will
Never be quenched.

The eruption of water hits you now.
Is it water that you feel
Or are you finding something more?
Wetness surrounds you.

You lie still for a moment
And the smell reaches your nose.
Sweet but sour. The water has risen and
You take your final stand.

Putting down the book
Standing up to stretch
The water in front of you, an endless
Path of desire.

Lustful youth is upon you, yet
You are just a boy. Stick to the shores,
My friend, for the water breeds danger.
Even in the shallowest of parts.
