Shots Fired

Bang! Bang!

Shots rang

And everyone came

Gathered round to see who'd be the next name

Added to the list of Black men

Never to see the light of day again

Because it had been stolen

Robbed

Like a thief in the night

So many emotions take flight

Grief

Anger

Hate

Pain

Another loss mourned

A community torn

A rift

Between us and them.

Cops who unrightfully take the gift

Of life

Causing strife

Like a knife

In our back

Man. We can't even keep track

So many gone and they blame us

For the lack of appreciation and trust

But what's to be expected

When you feel like your son or brother could be the next kid

Put down by officers in cold blood

While their name gets dragged through the mud.
