Shots that Steal Life

A normal day

Just like any other

He wakes up

parents dead

sister scared

He goes to school.

She calls a friend

who calls the cops.

School goes into lockdown,

parents are called.

He gets arrested at school,

and everyone leaves early.

The night before,

he shot his parents,

watched them die,

and went to bed.

He has been on death row ever since,

and wrote threats to his sister.

Guns may not kill people,

but violence does.

Violence leaves us to question

how a person takes the lives

of those who gave them theirs.
