The question always pops up with black and white people. Who and how can an person use the term nigger and nigga. Well lets take it back to 17th and 18th centuries when African Americans were being brought over from Africa on Dutch ships, being sold by European settlers and North America. We worked mainly on rice, tobacco, and cotton plantations in the south. This so called partnership was called "slavery". We were seen as inferior and lesser to the white man. Why? Well it's because we are dark skinned people different from white people. White people thought they were precious, clean, and purity. And that black people were lesser than them, black people were dumb, evil, different, unlike everyone else, good for nothing people. Now that we have some background information, the term NIGGER. The term nigger means of ignorance, lazy, good for nothing person. This was used by the white slave owners to put is down and show how we were lesser of a human then they were. This became a racial slur given to black people to say we are unintelligent humans and non-understanding. I personally think no one should call someone a nigger not black nor white. Why u say, because it was a racial slur given to black folks to make us inferior to white folks. Now NIGGA is a term used in Black English Vernacular that began as an eye dialect form of the word nigger (a word originated as a term used in a neutral context to refer to black people as ignorant and as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger, meaning the color "black"). This word is used mainly among the young African American communities. Tupac said it best, knowing that Nigga is a word which evolved from the derogative term "nigger". Tupac best defined the distinction between the two.

NIGGER- a black man with a slavery chain around his neck.

NIGGA- a black man with a gold chain on his neck.

What does this mean. It means that nigga is slang that was used by black people to try to show endearment. A derogatory word used by black people to retain (and exploit) their ancestors past as slaves. Many blacks claim it's a term of endearment (akin to brother, homie, etc), but in no way can it be as its root meaning is ignorance. It's another double standard of racism in our current time. People ask why can white people say it. Because its a derogatory term and in society is not acceptable and shouldn't be. Now should black people say it, NO because for a couple of reasons. Many black people don't understand where the word came from or why it is such a huge topic. Black people say it cause they feel it empowers them and makes them feel like they are something bigger and that this makes white people inferior to them. But in reality it doesn't. Now why do I say it. That a good question and hard to answer, why cause I have a dumb answer " I Do Not Know Why". Maybe I say it cause society accepts black people to say it. Maybe I say it cause I feel it gives black people a word to say that white people can't and that gives us power. Maybe cause I say it cause everyone will call me typical, and put me as the cater gory of being a typical ignorant black person, a nigger. Now when I say it a use it as a term meaning friend. Now should I, no. So then why do I. Because once again " I Do Not Know. Do I think society, black, white, Asian, hispanic, purple, pink, whatever, do I think we should use nigger or nigga. And my answer is no. Because nigger was a term trying to lower the the esteem of African Americans and make then inferior to white people. Black people using that word is showing they are ignorant to the meaning and affect of that word on themselves and society. Now nigga, we shouldn't use this because, for one thing it's slang and not really a formal word and it doesn't really have a formal definition. I don't think we should use it cause it has no meaning and it was created to show empowerment to black people. It's used as payback for the word nigger. Plus it's being used to mean nothing but the fact that we are ignorant and can't understand that we were called the"N" word because we were thought as ignorant and of a lesser human being. So, now I leave u with the question and u decide. Who and why should someone use Nigger or Nigga.
