Shoulda Been Made It

You can’t hear me

But I’m speaking

Although I’m trying

I’m still not eating

The pride gets hard to swallow

I’m tired but i can’t sleep

The dream keeps me awake

The nightmare of failure

Haunts me in the day

The fear is tragic

Sometimes I get lonely

But I’m not sure what i crave

And company is a temporary comfort

Since I’ll be alone in the grave

But the love is addicting

Attention is a drug

It gets forced down my throat

I dim the light

It gets replaced with a stronger bulb

I’m shy and somehow it never shows

I think i can do anything

But can i

I’m not God or a superhero

Pockets don’t have any extra zeros

I might not know as much as i think

I stay away from the drink

Try not to be blunt

But my tongue is rolled that way

And i forgot to stop accelerating speech

When emotions hit the breaks

I’m not perfect

But what’s the equation

Because if patience plus

Hard work rooted in prayer

Equals my dreams

I should have been made it.
