Show You The Way
Show You The Way
By: Tristen Baker
Come with me,
And I will see to it,
That you don’t give up,
Because I’ve been through this too…
I know it hurts,
I can sense it,
From your body to your eyes,
Even if you don’t say it,
You are speaking it,
And I want to help you.
You are my world,
And I hate seeing you crumble,
Because it hurts me as well,
But not enough for me to let go,
Because just as a glimmer of hope can shine through,
I am here to show you the way.
A Nightmare,
That consumed me in pain and agony,
Confusion followed by hate,
Followed by misery,
All of that made a chain reaction,
That led me to you…
You,
The one who picked me up,
When all I wanted to do was stay down,
The one who I never wanted to disappoint,
Because you touched my heart,
You showed me the way,
That allowed me to live at least 1 day,
The way I wanted to live it….
Happily.
I look at you,
And I see a hero,
But when I look into you,
I witness countless nights,
Spent without sleep because you’re scared,
Afraid the nightmares are going to come again,
And I can relate…
I was once that person.
So as I shelter you,
From the rain,
And other elements,
Know that I don’t want it to have been in vain,
I hold you close,
Because I want you to have what I didn’t at one time,
It isn’t a crime to feel upset,
Nor is it a sin to cry…
I hope that one day…
You’ll look around you,
And feel the immense joy that I feel now,
Seeing how far I’ve come,
Because there was a point in time,
You weren’t with me,
And those were dark days…
You pulled me through,
What had seemed inevitable sadness,
And I am forever in your debt,
So much that I will never get to say,
Exactly how much I appreciate you,
So now I must help you,
A loved one in need,
We are like family,
And just as families are supposed to work,
I will show you the way.
