Shrink Wrap World
Dear Shrink Wrap World,
Some days all I can know for sure
Is how deeply I feel it-
The tension
The frustration
The confusion.
Their furrowed brows
Clenched up jaws
The grit
Grit
Gritting of teeth,
It is a palpable presence-
The way a heart rate rises in an instant
Like hot air in the pit of a balloon,
Sky reaching
This place constricts us
Or more-
Our entire world shrink wrapping around our flesh
We wait
Hiding inside its stomach
it is a palpable presence,
this forlorn awareness
as we press our faces up against the filmy bubble
guiltily
This shrink wrap world will pop
someday
and that is all I can know for sure.
