Shrouds


Covering up the awkward and soaking up the tears

Shrouding your failed attempts for normalcy

It offers you comfort and security; obviously futile

 

Hiding your crazy in the dim

Pulled over your head, shielding you 

Swaddled in the temporary calm, you sink

 

Sweet fragrances pale to the senses

Colors are all askew

Sunlight squeezes through between the weave

 

Listening to the voices compound the confusion

Drowning them out is a battle never won

 

Waiting, wanting to break free of these shackles

You will
