the shuck

he steps with paws as quiet as

snow

but his coat is black as

spilled ink

as his towering form

lumbers over both men and women

with teeth as sharp as a razor blade

and eyes glowing red with fire

he snarls and hunts along the isles

and prowls dark roads.

you see him when you get out of the car

he stands in the shadows

and the only thing you see is the glow of fire eyes

but you know

what he is

you tell your wife

"stay in the car"

"it's not safe"

"i love you"

you don't know why he's here but

it's better to be safe than

sorry.

why is he here?

perhaps as a

protector

or maybe

he just perfers the taste

of human.
