Shut Up!

Shut Up

I WISH YOU WOULD ALL SHUT UP!

Don’t tell me that I can do whatever I put my mind to

But when I try to juggle oranges in my room, I fail

Don’t tell me that I’m college material

When all through high school I struggled

I won’t be the women with the Ph.D.

Maybe the women that becomes manager at the local McDonalds

Don’t tell me to keep my head up

When the whole world rest heavily on my shoulders

Don’t tell me that you’ll always be there

When as soon as I fail, I can’t find you

I WISH YOU WOULD ALL SHUT UP!

I’ll have to learn these lessons on my own

No longer do I have you to influence me

I have to figure out that I’m worthy

I have to find out my self-worth

I WISH YOU WOULD ALL SHUT UP!

So I can hear what God is saying
