The sidewalk

I'm running across a huge hill

of manicured grass

like an endless lawn

I just can't get past

as I crest the hill top

i look down and see

a sidewalk

waiting for me

beyond it a city

of great might and will

and there it sits

silent and still

all grass to all city

is this sidewalk for real?

then I hear it

a distant BOOM

vibrating my sidewalk

With possible doom

BOOM BOOM BOOM it's coming closer

rumbling and shaking the ground as it nears

what will the crest of that hill expose?

OH its King Kong one of my worst fears

he BOOMS to the sidewalk

where I stand

and grabs me up

into his hand

and stuffs me into

the sidewalk crack

Im all squished in

but out I pop back

that crack is to small

for me to fit in

Im not the size

of a safety pin

before the Kong

I stand and wager

as the moment is long

my life's in danger

by fear I am bound

hes staring me down

I am filled with dread

then POOF

Im back in my bed

I hope and I pray

the sidewalk is ok

I’m a proud grandma of 3, I’m not fancy, I don’t claim to be smart, everything I am comes straight from the heart.
