Sigh ...
Judges 18:8-9
8 Then the spies came back to their brethren at Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brethren said to them, “What is your report?”
9 So they said, “Arise, let us go up against them. For we have seen the land, and indeed it is very good. Would you do nothing? Do not hesitate to go, and enter to possess the land.
Is our country not worth it?
I wonder why you hesitate. Why do you hang on?
Where does the drive originate to cling to the temporal?
Why do we congregate and just can’t go on
until we truly participate in the embrace of the eternal?
Where do all the engines go when there is no more gas?
What will the stomach do when there is no more food?
What does our spirit know when it is outclassed
and shown to be the fool to be well understood?
Is not every breath followed by a sigh?
Is not eye’s perception followed by a moment of the dark?
Are not our eyelids a shield against the light
or a possible reflection of a stranger in God’s park?
