Silence

From the babbles of a baby
to the stuttering of a child
up until now, I’m still being silenced.
I’ve gotten used to it
but this is all a huge horseshit
through the mumbles of a crowd
my voice, can’t be too loud
sometimes I do before I think
and speak before I think
where has that gotten me?
right up to the brink
I can’t speak my mind
because I’m so different
and if I do speak up
no matter what I say
no matter what I do
silence
I’ve noticed hatred
I’ve noticed racism
but when I speak up
silence
I try to correct someone
small problem or large
even in the kindest voice I’ve got
silence
so, to those that hate black lives matter
shut up and sit down
to those that support trump
you’re better off not being here
to those that say everyone should have a weapon
look yourself in the mirror
and think to yourself “ what an awful thought that was”
to those that tell me I don’t have a voice
shut the fuck up
my voice is my own
no one should stop me
I have to make a difference
show who I am
not just at home
but everywhere else to
for my dad
who gives his voice to those he helps
too long has he done this for me
no more should I be stopped at what I think
and if I have something to say
be it small or huge
I shouldn’t be silenced
I hate myself
I love myself
I need to talk this out
but in order for me to do that
please, just let me speak.

Yes! Always use your voice, and know that your confidence will shine forth the more you use it! Great poem!
