Silence
When I close my eyes and
lay under the warm sheets of my bed,
I hear silence.
A silence so loud that it threatens to
overpower me,
overwhelm me,
and swallow me up.
I become lost in the maze of silence.
Silence turns the air into a syrupy consistency.
My every breath becomes labored,
and suddenly,
I am hit
with a sudden epiphany.
I am alone.
Alone in my silent journey.
A journey that leads to nowhere.
A journey that leads to more
silence.
