From Silence

a mouth, given to speak

two ears, given to hear

though i could not speak,

i heard every word

for years my mouth was taped shut

never speaking up

with the fear of talking back consuming me

i endured the tearing down of my name

and cried in silence

tears streaming down my cheeks until one day the tape was removed

i could not,

and i would not take it anymore

my mind and heart were racing as thewords of power flowed from my brain and out of my mouth

a straight path, blocked before, now open

i was no longer silent

i,was brilliant
