Silence

Eyes blurred-

the tears are falling and they

will

       not

               stop

Everyone around her assumed she was filled with alcohol.

She has no voice left to say otherwise.

"Let them judge me," a voice in her head replies.

How simple it would be to not care about what they think

                                                                                                         But she does.

The flashing red lights from a vehicle appear in what is left in her line of vision.

Her heart is racing- there isn't much she can do.

She prays now.  For what, she isn't exactly sure.

She just wants someone to hear her.

The officer gets out of his car- he knows something is wrong.

Little girl of only sixteen was not drunk.  She had been taken advantage of.

That seventeen year old boy will          NEVER          confess.

It's her word against his, she chooses to remain silent

while in her head, the voice repeats,

                                                                    "Let them

                                                                                        judge me."
