spoken word

Silence, nothingness, and the inbetween

What if I stopped talking Decided the silence spoke better than me And let it fill the spaces where my words used to be What would it say Would it be louder than me Carrying weight in it’s stillness Or quiet And unnoticed in the pain it carries The blood dripping from my nonexistent words Staining the floor Where I can’t control it’s mark As we step on bugs as we walk Because death is something we have normalized The silence of the dead As they sleep in their coffins Their bones holding all the things they wanted to say When they choose to stay silent And let others decide what they thought Always thinking we are Too afraid of what the silence has to say Because it’s much easier to pretend it’s not there when you cover it up So cover me up And forget about me As I stop talking Letting my soul enter its coffin early Lock it shut and bury it So it can’t escape And fill this silence Because you can never make me speak I dance in this quiet And tell stories to the crowd of none Because people listen to the words you have to say Not the ones you don’t So let me fill this space with the nothingness of me Freedom is only guarantied in your silence So I will wait Until someone will listen And join me in the freedom of silence nothingness And the in-between
