silent chains

Silent chains They drag across the floor rusted and worn they extend through time you can try and run away but the chains they stay these chains hold us down pigment stratification men and women bound the real chains gone long ago but these silent chains remain you are free but only in name because no matter where you go there are those silent chains around your ankles scraping at the skin reminding you how you're not the same white men can spit on you white men can piss on you and it will always be you fault because you were the silent chains because though they make no sound they are visible from a mile away but one does not fear the chains we remember the chains because with chains come change the chaining of the heart pushes us to art and art has no chains art can only be unbound sometimes art is sound sound can pass across those colors sound does not take notice of the chains who are silent anyways we can make music because music will help us overcome because music will make a new chain a black and white chain a red white and blue chain this chain will hold us all together though it has no links it does have notes aretha sang it for respect james brown was loud black and proud it was a black sound but art is much more profound you have shades in art and music shades add magnificence if you use it the stones took a muddy sound made it to a rocking sound janis joplin payed her dues listened to odetta, bessie, and billie a white girl sang the blues kicked out of texas she didn't play the racist rules zeppelin took a delta noise shook it up and spun it around now you have a metal sound and on and on until today though the silent chains still do drag the chains of voice clank up and down because the music of the ehart has no color it bring us close to one another from then till now it has shaped the sound we hear around music can teach us empathy because we cannot feel color because music creates no barrier music can not harm music can only lift and free take no alarm one day the music will release the silent chains which have bound you by the arm
