Silent Killer

It silently lurks in the darkest corners of the soul

eating away at a heart that was once filled with hope, joy, and life

and leaving behind pain, sadness, and darkness.

The smile on your face muffles the screams of pain inside

making your pleads for help silent to the outside world.

When you do let out a whimper of pain

they tell you "it's all in your head"

or to "lighten up, you have no reason to feel this way."

So quietly you retreat

into the darkness

Suffocating, slowly but surely

The silent killer creeps in

taking it's next victim.

Never has there been a silence quite this loud.

To those looking from the outside in,

listen.

If you listen close enough,

you'll be able to hear the pain that rattles their bones.

It's not all in their heads.

If you listen close enough,

you'll hear the tears slowly flow from their eyes,

there is no need for explaination.

And if we listen close enough,

the killer will no longer be silent.

No longer able to creep in the darkness.

No longer able to strike again.
