The Silent Killer: His name is...

One by one I watched them die,

from the same death I am ashamed to have survived.

The first time it hurt so bad that I cried myself to sleep,

four days in a row, Merril was her name.

The second time I couldn't  breathe,

he was so young

so happy

so loving,

his name was Ricky.

Nothing hurt more than the fourth and fifth.

They were beautiful, strong, and caring,

Their light shined brighter than the sun,

they just couldn't hold on any longer.

Their names were Laura and Jessica.

Who is this silent killer?

The one who took away my,

Friends,

Family,

Love?

His name is Cancer.
