Silent Screams

The kicks, the whippings, the ruthless beatings,

No one can hear their silent pleadings,

They are forced to end-less suffering,

No one can hear their labored puffing,

Struggling to breathe, the chamber dark,

No one can hear their inaudible bark,

Fallen on the freezing, damp, ground,

No one is able to hear the cry of a hound,

Blood is painting their bodies,

Isn’t there anybody?

Becoming frightful of the light,

Knowing they will survive another night,

Your pet could never hurt a fly,

Why must they writhe away and die?
