Silent Sunlight

When light disappears, the music never does in this world of incessant ringtones and rock beats, never ending car horns and chaos. In this blur of road noise, constant chatter, and fireworks, because now we must light up the sky with a boom and then we can celebrate. But perhaps stars are dimmed and bird song is drowned out completely. What if we miss the beauty in 365 sunrises, because we need a BOOM! to realize the entire sky is bursting with the vividness of life? Will we miss the color in a newborn’s cheek, if we refuse to hear this music of silence? We rush by trees, hoping to get somewhere, we hurry past, really going nowhere, we try harder, we talk louder, when we really need to listen. Trees can say a lot about perseverance, rooted strength, and giving. But trees merely whisper; a hush of rustling branches caught in a gentle breeze. Silence lets our hearts hear the important. Silence lets us understand the little that hides in cracks. It squeezes and ebbs, too soft to be heard… Unless we create a space for silent sunbeams to peak through thundering clouds.
