"silent train ride"

Silent Train Ride

By:

Tinika Cudjoe:

Speed is in the eyes of the beholder.

As I gaze into the eyes of the man made machine,

The wind blew by slower.

The trees began to move in a calm pace.

Voices slowly disappeared.

My breath was no longer my own.

My spirit patiently left my body.

Peace fell upon me,

While the wordly pain faded away.

As the machine came closer,

It's light drew me in closer,

And its roar was like music to my ears.

Like a singing siren,

It had its hold on me.

I couldn't move no matter how hard I tried.

I didn't want to move.

Peace was brought to me.

I thought, it must be time.

I'm ready.

The final moment came.

I smilled and closed my eyes,

Ready!

-Whoosh-

Wind blew by fast.

It was done.

I opened my eyes...

I was still alive?

I should feel relief.

Instead I was upset I got saved.

I watched the train go by,

Upset I missed my chance of peace forever.

I guess there is a reason someone came and saved me.

Maybe I had to be alive in order to gain access of what my real purpose of my peace might be.

Maybe life isn't done with me.

After dealing with so much pain.

Maybe this is life saying we still owe you peace.

I guess I will take this chance and see what life has for me.
