silently screaming

i want you to love me like i love you

in that soft, cushioned, unrequited sense

but it wouldn't be the same for you

i love you like the astronaut loves the stars

i love you like the trees love the earth

i love you like the romans loved the gods

violently, desperately, tragically

i was never the prettiest girl in the room

but i was always the most insane

teetering on the edge of becoming everyone's favorite ghost

and a monster filled with feminine rage

i screamed for you

and no one heard a sound.
