Silhouettes of Suburbia
Over such a vast expanse of suburban sprawl
a warm aura of sunset orange radiates from each roof,
Houses,
just actors in the scene of their surroundings,
A distant city as the backdrop.
The monotonous row of peak and valley of residences
differs slightly to the stark peak and valley
of the nearby mountains, illuminated in fading sunlight.
A dark blanket is gently draped from horizon to horizon,
all is dark with the exception of a solitary
luminescent window and the golden glow
of the faraway metropolis.
