Silver Lining

I always thought myself to be

A person of love and compassion

Yet more often than not it seems

There’s nothing for which I have passion

I search every day and each night

For a good source of inspiration

So that the next piece that I write

Could be a substantial creation

I feel at my most creative

Whenever I’m hurt or heartbroken

Others and the pain that they give

Can help me to be more outspoken

I recently injured my hand

It caused an abundance of sadness

Yet what had been highly unplanned

Had soon become my newest canvas

I photographed it every day

To document it as it progressed

And though my hand was not okay

I’d never felt so happy or blessed
