Simmer

I still love you,

but not in the same way.

It has dimmed.

Before my love for you was like a blazing fire,

now it’s just embers,

waiting to slowly extinguish on its own,

or have you come along and reignite the flames.

But darling,

I don’t know how long I can simmer.
