Simple

Sometimes, I find myself fighting for air,
Waving my arms as merciless tides wash over me,
And I can’t breathe.
And sometimes, I’m free-falling from ten thousand feet
The wind whistling in my ears
And I can’t breathe.

I resign myself to the water, I close my eyes to die--
And remember I know how to swim.
The shriek of the wind must be the scream of my soul--
Until I find the parachute ring.

Emergency gone, crisis diverted--
And I can breathe
Again.
