A Simple Book

A subject of space

An empty vessel of words of mixed feelings

Is what poetry was considered to me

Not long ago yet not of yesterday either.

Complications arise

And so do the tiring tides

Of an ordinary life

Where social discomfort pricks away

Away, at self-motivation

And the perception of others

Pouring liquid nitrogen down your very soul.

Pain can plague the very mind

In more ways than can be imagined

Do you feel this feeling

Where your tower of cards

Come tumbling down

And some kind of escape

(As you might have once forseen)

Is now out of your reach?

That is my tale of misery

Hidden behind the scars of mutilation

And my animosities

Of any vision in rising

Above and beyond the occassion.

A simple book

A simple book is all it took

To quench a lingering flame

Within the darkness inside

Where the pain attempted to fuel

And hide.

A simple book

So simple in its nature

Opened up a flurry of chimes

Entrancing me in its dreams and voices

Calling out to my name

With the lips of an angel

"Hither to my wisdom".

A simple book

Lucid dreaming come reality

Worlds colliding

Where my visions and nightmares

Dispering between the cracks in the ground

Faster, faster

The winds pulling me into this book

Of infinite knowledge and wonders.

Words flew through my ears

Like heavenly trumpeteers

Announcing major chord progressions

To which my soul lifted from its shackles

Hovering through this unknown world

As each line filled my eyes.

A gift this must be!

My dreaded thoughts and nightmares

Vanquished by unsuspecting empathy

The brimstone to damnation

Eradicated from all senses,

The words turning into lines

And lines as phrases

Which would turn into stanzas

Printing on my eyes

And filling a void

In the depth of my heart and mind.

Here is where it lied

A forgotten feeling

Which I never experienced before

A motherly touch with a fatherly eye

Guiding this beacon of light

For a new path for me to follow

A brilliance of hope and comfort

Now brought forth

After a lifeline

Of despair of unfortune.

As with a simple book

Led to a simple life

Of bliss and serenity.
