A simple kiss

I wanted to kiss you. I wanted that kiss to say all the things I’ve never been able to say. I wanted it to speak out all the feelings I’ve had for you.

But you chose to leave. And that kiss will never happen. But I know that the new kisses you’ll get will never be able to say the things I wanted to say.

So I’ll stand in the background and watch you live your life. I’ll notice those days you have a hickey, and proudly show it, like you did today. And I’ll notice how you ignore me.

I wish I was brave enough to confront you and give you that kiss, so that kiss can say all the things I wanted to say.

I want it to say that I would have been everything you wanted and needed, but now you can’t have any of me. I’m sorry you missed out. And I’m sorry that I never got to have that chance to show you that you deserved me. But now you don’t.
