"A Simple Necklace"

Some may say its just a necklace,
that it just hangs around my neck all day.
They laugh and claim that anyone can pay
for this necklace that hangs around my neck all day.

I smile knowing that what hangs
is more then, something you can just pay for.
It's my display of hope, faith, love, wisdom, and
everything I choose to portray myself as.

It doesn't just hang around my neck all day
it reminds me of who I am every day.
It reminds me that even though this world is cruel
there is still good in it,
and through the clouds the suns rays will
always make a way to us.

A gift from my parents
in a time when the paychecks were low.
Yet they were able to get me
this necklace that hangs around my neck all day.

This necklace that hangs around my neck all day
I have never removed since it was put on me.
Seven years have passed and,
you will find it still hanging around my neck all day.
