Simple Speech

I’m standing up here to tell you that this isn’t easy

It’s like not being supported by any ground under your feet

I can feel my heart playing jump rope with my vocal cords

With every jump comes a stumble over my words

Even my heart isn't being supported by the rib cage that vowed to keep it safe

All because I'm up to give a simple speech.
