Simple Words

She stares at an empty page,

Staring back at her.

Blinking every second or two,

Scratching the pen back and forth,

Tapping her foot up and down,

Waiting.

Waiting for the words to beat their soft wings.

They take flight from the heart,

Way down in the soul,

Then in to the mind where they take shape,

And fly out through the gates of limitless power.

They take a simple direction,

And  go as fast as they can.

They journey through a radiant path,

Where the rivers flow under a golden star,

And the aroma of appreciation is everywhere.

They harness the eternal energy of this power,

And use it to hold nations together with an anthem,

To hold people together with a prayer,

To hold love together with a song,

To hold the universe together with a book.

This energy is just a few simple words that long to be free.

Racing inside the ink of a pen,

And not settling until the last drop is set on the once empty page.

She closes her eyes,

As the page no longer stares at her with anxiety,

But with satisfaction.

The simple words have traveled long and far,

But their purpose has yet to be fulfilled,

And their journey has yet to be completed.
