You think that pretty rhymes All the time About the birds and the bees Or the flowers and the trees Is what all makes poetry? Well, you're wrong. Poetry is a story. Whether it's yours, or mine, or anyone's. Whether it's free verse Or structured to a syllable count or stanza count I write to let my mind go wild. Hell, you can hardly do that in the "real world" So why not do it on paper? Use as many colorful, insightful words Or many emotions and passions no matter how absurd It's all yours! People can critique all they want but it's all yours. Simply Writing is all mine. All mine. Whether or not I do want to talk about "The birds and the bees" Or political, social policies Or my family Or WHATEVER feeling or reason I have inside me. Tell me I write well Tell me I'm just young and pissed at the world Tell me that I write poorly Tell me I think too highly of the world Simply... I don't care what you tell me. I love it regardless. Why do you think I'm still writing?
