Simply a Feast

Peaceful silence rings through the trees

Quietly all seems at ease

But deep in the shadows, lurking, awaits

The cruelty of sinister fate.

Patiently watching waits the beast

Dreaming of its upcoming feast

For soon an unknowing innocent soul

Will play a terribly tragic role.

Through the forest a child bounds

Singing, dancing because he found

A bursting, juicy bright blue berry

So happy he was, and completely unwary.

And stealthily, like a thief in the night

The beast springs and seals the plight

Of a child, a victim of a beast

Who wanted much more than simply a feast.
