Simply Me
Simply Me
Blue skies, horses, and laughter.
This is what I see, what I hear.
I see healing, restoration, and new strength.
What I am cannot be captured in an Insta selfie.
No.
This must be experienced in person.
Abandoned children touching, riding a horse.
Laughing for the first time.
Shining a smile tucked away for months.
Rejected children being accepted and loved.
Rebuilding lives and starting over.
Here, I am myself.
A volunteer, a friend, a leader.
Devoted, strong, and confident.
This is simply me.
This poem was inspired by my work as a volunteer with Purposeful Pony, a nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding organization, for the past five years.
