Simply Secret
Some secrets are simply secrets, while others are secrets that burn deep within the soul and haunt you everyday. After all our secrets are written on our faces. Secrets that remind you of everything you’re not. Secrets that make you cry, make you laugh, and make you scream. Secrets are personal and powerful. They make themselves known; they cling onto you like a lost puppy, Secrets that make you lost and alone yet loved and whole. Fickle, that’s what secrets are; secrets are the only thing that can cause pain and healing all at once. A broken girl can find pain and lies within secrets, her mind tells her she’s worthless and will never amount to anything, it says she’ll never be loved, she doesn’t deserve it, yet these are the secrets she keeps locked deep within her heart. Locked tight until one day she breaks and cries out Lord help me. Secrets may seem small but they burn a giant hole within the heart of the beholder, they imbed lies and accusations. Secrets I believe are dangerous when left inside, they are meant to be shared in order to set the heart free, but it takes a strong and courageous person to set their secrets free. Secrets will forever be a mystery, one person’s safe haven and another’s hell. Secrets can cause the innocent to plead guilty, the loved to feel lost, and the friendly to feel lonely, yet people say “Don’t worry, it’s simply a secret.”
