Sing Me Free

Thu, 03/17/2016 - 18:41 -- skt1001

Stranded
Behind the miles of ocean
Sand piled up like hours
And dark just dark:
     Empty.
Just water, and
Sand, and
Dark, and
    Me.
And I need
How I need
I need
     Air
     Deep in my lungs
I need a clear head
I need
How I need
     Him:
Warm and real and alive.
But he is gone.
He is gone and will always be.I need
How I need
     Air
    Deep in my lungs
I need
How I need
     And then I know what
     I need
In this endlessness
In this darkness
In this emptiness
I need
     Hope.
Hope like a song.
Like freedom.
I need
How I need
     Air
     Deep in my lungs
I part my lips
And sing
A song of wings, of feathers, of belief
     Hope.
And I need
How I need
     My voice.
