The Singer
Its funny how, a melody so sweet
can heal a heart so broken
Its funny how, a simple song
can cause someone to open
like a flower blooms at the first taste of spring
When you find yourself lost in the atrocities of the world
you sing and feel the hatred melt around you
when you're up against a wall fighting to survive
you escape into the peace of music, safe at last
when all you can do is sit against a wall, feeling the pain of every sob
you feel the sweet comforting kiss of a lullaby
When the world abandons you
there's only one thing you can take
stranded on a deserted island
I chose, instead, a sweet song to make
and start again the first bloom of spring
